Neurological Approach

Most people go to a chiropractic physician for back pain, neck pain, and injury from car accidents. Whether our chiropractors treating clients with those problems or issues like high blood pressure, diabetes or cancer, our primary focus of chiropractic medicine is on neurology. We use the spine as a window into the nervous system as the first step in our RIGHT system approach to health and wellness care.
We look at neurology first because we understand that the nervous system controls and coordinates all the other systems. We also understand that without a properly functioning neurological system, your body can’t repair and replace tissue and remove toxins and waste as part of the healing and treatment process.

When the neuromuscular and neurological approach is maximized and there are still unresolved pain or disfunction, our Interventional Pain Medicine team offers more aggressive treatments that include only the necessary prescription drugs and surgical options. Many problems related to neurological interference are not recognized as being based on neurology, like high blood pressure. We must address the neurological component of disease first.

Doctors of chiropractic (DCs) are used by all 32 professional football teams. DCs treat neuromusculoskeletal strain injuries, including neck and back pain, hamstring and quadriceps strains and whiplash injuries, helping to lower the overuse of opioids and other prescription pain medications.

“Reduced odds of surgery were observed for…those whose first provider was a chiropractor. 42.7% of workers [with back injuries] who first saw a surgeon had surgery, in contrast to only 1.5% of those who saw a chiropractor.”

What is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC)?

Chiro-Color-LowResDoctors of Chiropractic – also referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a hands-on, drug-free approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are perhaps best known for their expertise in the use of spinal manipulation; however, they are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, and to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.
